Ross's Landing -If you've ever wondered how those boat owners get the super sweet parking spot right next to the Coke Stage during Riverbend, here's your answer.
It started as a tradition that had the feel of camping in line for the best concert tickets or latest electronics on Black Friday. But it has morphed into a tail gating party of sorts.
Boaters and Riverbend fans have been camped out since Monday to guarantee themselves a spot to dock at Ross's Landing during Riverbend 2013. They're hoping to score a slot on the "sign up" sheet to gain access to the dock during the festival.
Marty Puryear of Marine Max, the group who manages the docks along Chattanooga's riverfront, says, "They love it, they bring tarps, they cover the breezeway, they pack a cooler, and we have a fire pit for them."
Space is limited, and so is the time available. Boaters can only park festival-side for half the week, either Friday - Tuesday or Tuesday- Friday. First come, first serve. Marine Max will open the doors at 8 AM Friday, exactly six months to the day that Riverbend 2013 kicks off.
